The World Series of Poker, 2010
Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Nevada, Las Vegas hosted The World Series of Poker (WSOP), 2010. It was the 41st Annual World Series of Poker and was held during May 28 to July 17. In total 57 events were held, which culminated into $10,000 No Limit Hold 'em Championship, which started on 5th of July, 2010. The event saw the third year of return for concept called November Nine and it was on November 6 when the finalists of Main Event returned.
The $50,000 buy-in tournament was revamped and was the major notable change of 2010 World Series of Poker from 2009 World Series of Poker. The $50,000 buy-in tournament was a H.O.R.S.E. event from 2006 (year of inception of the tournament) to 2009 when the play used to rotate between Texas hold 'em, Omaha 8-or-better, Razz, stud, and stud 8-or-better. All the games had a structure of limit betting. After the revamp in 2010 it was transformed into an "8-game" tournament, which rotated between 5 H.O.R.S.E. events and then the no limit hold 'em, Omaha pot-limit (high only) and 2–7 triple draw limit followed. The order of events for 2010 World Series of Poker changed. The Poker Player's Championship marked the beginning and No Limit Hold'em Championship (Main Event) marked the end of 2010 WSOP.
A total of 7,319 players participated in The World Series of Poker, 2010. The first place winner received $8,944,138 out of the total pooled prize money of $68,798,600. Matt Affleck finished at 15th place and this finish by Matt combined with his the 80th place finish in the year 2009 broke several records in the Main Event for these two years. The first, second and the third place at the final table were occupied by Jonathan Duhamel, John Racener and Joseph Cheong respectively.
